ENGLISH VERSION (SORRY FOR THE MISTAKES)

A long season ends, a season of many defeats but also 4 PB's (5k-8k-10k and marathon). Since my last blog, many things occurred. My August was my biggest month for life, or 670km. Subsequently, the recovery became important. Finally, my daughter Alexia gave me a happy gift, a bad cold, which began on Tuesday before the half-marathon in Philadelphia. So I had to give DNS of this wonderful race. It therefore became important to get the most for me to focus on the final test, the Toronto Waterfront Marathon. Within 10 days of the race, the cough began the game and it proved laryngitis. Despite this, the marathon became also important to reach my 2013 goals, under 69 minutes and on the half marathon in under 2hr27 but also to achieve a top 12 of the Canada Running Series.

The morning of the race I felt relaxed because with experience, I know how managing my environment. I manage to be accurate in hotels with my wife even though sometimes I get invitations to live with another rider. In this way, I feel more at home than hotel. In addition, this year, I really had the chance to have the presence of my parents. So I had an extra « boost » to get a good race.

Here is a little summary of the race:

  1. it was raining heavily at the start and the rate of moisture near the maximum. The wind was between 15km/h - 22km/h during the race .. headwind in the last 10 km. It hurts me at the overpass at 5-6k at the end.
  2. The first half was relax with a good group in Krista Duchene, Lanni Marchant and especially Rejean Chiasson, a good pacer.
  3. At 23-24km, I was forced to stop because my left lace is untied and I said to myself, "relax, look at the two laces and leaves and joined the group ".... that's what I did 1k-2k later. Lost 30-32 seconds.
  4. At the 25th km, Mary Davies left the group, I found myself alone.
  5. I have tried everything to feel confortable until 32.2 k to return as best I can (always alone) At this time,  I began to fell my calfs overheating (probably the overspin the wet asphalt).
  6. I knew that would a « psycho game » in the last 10k. I started focusing on African and Mary Davies (2nd and 3rd place at that time). At 7k, I caught the African and gradually I joined Mary Davies.
  7. At the overpass, I passed after the future winner and she stayed with me and it gave me a boost. I felt more and more calf. My 5k between 35 and 40k wasn’t as good I want by the reason of the wind but I wanted to finish without cramp!
  8. At 1k, I saw my father ran in encouraging me. It gaves me the final that I need for the finish. You can see that by the following video.
  9. I know that time is not an indicator of my performance. Given the circumstances, this may correspond 2-3 minutes more (see a brief analysis below on Africans).

I resume training in the next couples of days but more shape retention and also run 100km/semaine to bring my annual mileage to 6000km. Also, my 2nd daughter (Clara's name) will born in late November or early December and she will be in perfect health (For those who have read the previous blog). From next January 1st, I will be back on the training track with the best Quebec team (Rouge et Or Laval University) under the leadership of Félix-Antoine Lapointe. My race calendar is not official yet.

Before leaving, I would like to thank those who believed in me this year:

  1. Isabelle, my wife, who believes in my project of racing and also understands the importance and involvement.
  2. Alexia, my daughter, because I hadn’t the time to play enough with her.
  3. My parents, Claude and France, but also encourages me and to taking care of my young princess when I have to run 2 times per day.
  4. My coach, Dorys Langlois for his good work. It has motivated me and also to adjust my planifs when I wasn’t unhealthy.
  5. Team Saucony (Matt, Tarik, Alain and Line) who believes in me and gives me their awful equipment. I especially want to thank Matt for the discussion we had in the morning of the marathon. It allowed me to "Find my strong" in the following 2hr28min.
  6. Team ELoad (Sharon, Charlene and Tania) for their incredible products. Their premium products allows me to feel good before, during and after (recovery) races and workouts.
  7. Polar Team (Jean-Francois Paquet) who believes in me for over 10 years. Polar products lets me see my progress but it also allows me to see my peaks and downs but also prevent it (very difficult).
  8. R3D Consulting Inc., my employer (Anne and Melissa), which encourages me but who understands me on a daily basis (Allow me to jog on the lunch time). It is an employer of choice in the province.
  9. My running partners who motivated me all summer, Daniel Riou and David Huot. Daniel gaves motivation back on the track (by our weekly jogs) in May when I was in a down time. David, my neighbor helped me to keep the passion in the last 2 months which became longer and longer.
  10. Krista Duchene and Rejean Chiasson: Rejean leads us so perfectly and also gave me a Eload Gel water bottle during the race. Krista, a wonderful racer but also person, who gaves me the motivation at that day.
